How the simulator works

Where do the prices come from?
Every Theta token's daily price comes from its ThetaSwap pools, converted to US dollars at that day's TFUEL/USDT close on Binance. TFUEL, Bitcoin, Ethereum and THETA use their Binance daily closes. Days are UTC days, and history starts in February 2021, when ThetaSwap launched.
What does rebalancing do?
Keeping a ratio means selling some of what went up and buying what went down, so each asset is back at its share of the portfolio. You can rebalance on a schedule (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly) or only when an asset drifts more than a set number of percentage points from its share. Each rebalance pays swap fees.
How are fees and price impact counted?
Buying or selling a token from TFUEL is one ThetaSwap swap with a 0.3% fee. With price impact on, each trade also moves the price by about its size divided by the token's liquidity on ThetaSwap that day, as in a constant-product pool. Holding TFUEL itself costs nothing.
How is providing liquidity simulated?
A pool position is valued from the pool's daily price ratio and both tokens' prices, including the 0.3% fee that liquidity providers earn on every swap and the impermanent loss against simply holding the two tokens. Depositing swaps half of the amount into the other token.
What do the yearly return and the largest drop mean?
Without recurring buys, the yearly return is the compound annual growth rate. With recurring buys it is the money-weighted return (IRR), which accounts for when each amount went in. The largest drop and the volatility use time-weighted daily returns, so money coming in does not hide a fall.
Can I include staking rewards?
Yes. Under fees and staking, enter a yearly rate for any asset, for example your TFUEL or THETA staking reward. It is paid daily in that asset and compounded. Rates change over time, so use what you expect on average.
Is this financial advice?
No. It shows what would have happened with past prices, which do not predict future ones. Real trades happen at the price of the moment and can differ from a daily close.
